Biography

That’s the right word to describe, what kind of music you will hear from heart of accordion artist, multi-instrumentalist and singer, Marko Kukobat. Coming from Slovakia but the roots he has in Serbia, on Balkan, where he grows up with the strong influence of music East and West as well. Born in Belgrade 1982, playing accordion almost 40 years since, with incredible technique coming from Serbia. You can feel it in the fine smell of music, soul, food and the everyday life of restless Belgrade, capitol of Serbia, where Marko grow up. He is not building career, but pure music, which will take you immediately for your heart. From his music you will hear brutal energy of Balkan folk, but as well great funky, blues and all together in the fine mix of true world music. As well his possibilities are much wider and he took a part in many projects of experimental, jazz, even rap and theater music…His specialty is presenting of live, uncut videos, and showing pure, clean music of the whole World. Prepare for the real music storm coming from his artistic playing and incredible voice. He gained wonderful experiences in life about music, folklore, travelling, concerting all over the world. On his music way he met beautiful people all over the world. They enriched his soul with their music, songs, folklore, food, with their way of life. These all had a great influence on his music style.

My wish is to see more and more people on live concerts, where they will get a totally different atmosphere, where they will feel the chemistry, the emotions and share this great concert time with others, and to enjoy great music and show.“

One of my main aims is to show a pure beauty of the accordion music, and singing beautiful Serbian and Balkan music, all together with Slovak music where I live now, and music of many other countries which I had pleasure to learn over there, and all together mixed in a true world music. Played and taped from USA to Slovakia, from Indonesia to Slovakia, throw 5 continents, like as well with some of the most important musicians from Serbian, Croatian, Slovak, Polish, Austria… After a lot of experience in all these projects and life experience from stages of the World, Marko started his “Kobayagi Funk Band”. In the 2018 this project became as an idea how to learn foreign musicians (out from Balkan’s) to play Balkan music. Base of the “Kobayagi”, always is trio (accordion, bass & percussions) and the guests are musicians from all over the Europe (Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Austria…), and the “Kobayagi Funk Band” already had more than 100 concerts in Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Poland, Russia… Project is growing up, and each concert is real happening for ears and eyes. In 2020 project get the first support of Slovak Culture and EU Culture funds throw projects. As most of the people knows, Balkan Music is always bringing a lot energy and soul music on the stage.
